Terrifier 2, the sequel to the film Terrifier, is a major disappointment.

Written and directed by Damien Leone, Terrifier 2 is a suspense/ slasher film. The Terrifier series contains two movies and has a third currently in production. It is a series that focuses on making its viewers uncomfortable with its amount of long scenes that include gore, suspense, and body horror. Compared to its original, Terrifier 2 was a disaster.
Compared to other “classics” in the slasher genre, like Friday the 13th, House of Wax, or Nightmare on Elm Street, Terrifier 2 doesn’t have a story to keep up and only wants to scare viewers with its complex use of body horror.
The sequel was respectively hyped up since its predecessor was such a smashing success. Terrifier 2 took all of the horror and gore from the first movie and multiplied it times ten: this led to its downfall. The amount of gorey scenes and how long they went on took time away from the main plot, made it felt dragged out, and had no story building. It felt like the director didn’t want to create a story and only cared about the shock value from how disgusting they could make the movie.

Compared to other “classics” in the slasher genre, like Friday the 13th, House of Wax, or Nightmare on Elm Street, Terrifier 2 doesn’t have a story to keep up and only wants to scare viewers with its complex use of body horror. Its predecessor Terrifier was able to build a story and let the audience connect to its characters so they could truly be captured within its story.
Only those who are fans of gory slasher movies or are looking to be completely disgusted for two hours and eighteen minutes should give the film a try.
