Katelyn Mize, a senior cheerleader at ECHS has been selected as the athlete of the week for her hard work and dedication to the sport.

She has been cheering for 10 years. She started cheering when she was in Pre-K for rec teams and then started competition cheer in 5th grade. She started cheering because when she was little her friends were doing it, and she has stuck with it since then. In her free time, Katelyn likes to surf, go to the lake, hang out with her friends and family, and go to church. One of the hardest things that Katelyn had to face while being a cheerleader was when she fell and it had caused her to develop a mental block.

Katelyn says, “Overcoming that was very difficult, but very rewarding.” Katelyn deserves the “Athlete of the Week” title for her hard work and dedication throughout her cheerleading journey.

Great Job, Katelyn!
