There are many things that happen in America on a daily basis, from the weather to where the country is politically. With new things happening every day, it can be difficult to keep up. Here’s what you need to know:

Autumn’s Arrival
When will the first day of autumn be? Autumn is the time for summer to cool down and finally make way for winter. But there’s a little issue: when does it start? Well, what farmers predict with the farmer’s almanac is that the cool off will officially begin on 9/22 at 8:44 pm EDT in the Northern Hemisphere. Some meteorologists, though, are basing their information on the temperature cycle, and by the looks of it the day could be Sunday, 9/1. It doesn’t matter whose side people take in this, I can tell you that we are all ready for the fall!
NY Under Water
New York, the most populated city in America, is experiencing a flash flood. On Tuesday the flood started to do serious damage around the city, breaking down homes, destroying property, and even taking the lives of at least 2 people, so there could be more. With all the houses and places in danger, people had been evacuated and lost homes. We have to send out our hopes and prayers that the situation will improve soon.
Hawaiian Hurricanes?
Hurricanes are never a thing most people enjoy as they close stores, injure people and damage housing, and even cause deaths. Then we have Hawaii, one of the two states that are not combined with the mainland of the United States. Combine them both and it’s not a good thing because of the fact that Hawaii is surrounded by water, and enough water build-up could cause a tsunami that will strike Hawaii badly. We just need to hope that the people living in Hawaii are well prepared and ready for a possible hurricane that’s coming this weekend.
Never Stop Advocating
Garret Frey, a man who has been paralyzed from the neck down for 37 years, won yet another significant victory this week. Frey sent a landmark case to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1999 after his school district did not pay for the care he needed to continue high school. Garret did win the case and now he does go to local and national board meetings acting as a disability activist. More recently Frey lodged a federal complaint pressuring the state of Iowa to increase Medicaid payments for caregivers so that he can remain in his home instead of going to a nursing home. His complaint succeeded, and Iowa has indeed increased payments to caregivers who stay overnight with their patients.
