On August 24 Spanish and French classes here at EC participated the “Tomatina” tradition in the courtyard outside the cafeteria.

La Tomatina is a festival in Spain where people come together and throw tomatoes at one another. Students at ECHS did something similar, but instead of tomatoes they used balls of water. Students in both French and Spanish classes were divided into two teams and went against each other throwing “tomatoes” at one another.
La Tomatina is always held on the last Wednesday of August, so to keep tradition going, La Tomatina at ECHS was also held on the last Wednesday of August as well. At the real Tomatina in Spain the streets are closed off and filled with trucks full of tomatoes people use to throw at one another. People from all over the world will go to be a part of La Tomatina.
