This week’s athlete of the week is Madisyn Weathers, and she is a dedicated softball player for East Coweta High School.

East Coweta’s softball program has the most wins in the county. They have been State Runner Up and Region Champions for the last 3 years. Madisyn could help lead her team to the 4th Region Championship this year, winning Regions all four years of highschool.

She has been a varsity pitcher on the softball team for all four years, and her coach told us she also plays defense on 1st and 3rd extremely well. The EC softball team is currently ranked 2nd in the state on the GHSA website.

We asked Weathers a few questions so the student body can get to know her better.

How long have you been playing?

“I have been playing softball for about 10 years now. I was 7 years old when I started playing.”

What’s your  favorite thing about softball?

“My favorite thing is being able to play a sport I love with some of my best friends.”

Weathers’s coach described her as a hardworking student that always has a positive disposition every practice, starting off the season really well with 5 home runs, 22 RBI’s, and a .304 batting average. He also says she is a great young lady and a centerpiece of the team, and he wants younger players to follow her example. He told us he chose her because of her leadership, and attitude to give 100% to everything on and off the field.

Congratulations, Madisyn!
