On Thursday, September 19th East Coweta High School’s Chick-Fil A- Leader Academy had their first meeting of the year because it was the nationwide kickoff for the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy.
The Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy (CFALA) is a club focused on service projects that meets once a month. CFALA had a field trip at the beginning of the school year to Chick-Fil-A headquarters.
The students took a tour of the Headquarters and had two guest speakers come and speak. The speakers educated the club members on going out into the world and impacting people with the talents we have been given. For this month’s club the Thomas Crossroads Chick-Fil-A, the club’s sponsor, donated Chick-Fil-A for the CFALA members.
At the first meeting, the focus was about the April Impact Project they are going to do and the Do-Good December project. The impact project is how the club raises money for a charity of their choice. The last two years the impact project has been a 5k, and the charity they chose to sponsor last year was Generations Together. Do-Good December is a smaller service project focused on people in the community. Last year, the club helped someone clean up their yard. “We are devoted to community service,” says club member Mckenzie Ray.
To help the members better organize and execute their impact projects, there are three different teams: logistics, communications, and fundraising. Logistics is the glue that holds everyone together, making sure that everything runs smoothly. Communication is focused on marketing the event, they are supposed to get the word out there for the event. Fundraising are the people who help raise the money for the cause, calling companies to get sponsorships. When these teams come together the execution of the project can meet the expectation.
The goal of CFALA is to raise as much money and make a big impact on the community while also making friends and having fun.
