Q: Dear Simone, in the eyes of you what be-ith the meaning of life-ith? -The Bard

A: Pizza; forged in the age of the Romans, it is a true cornerstone of Western Civilization. It seems to lie at the heart of the human experience, and adapts to every environment it encounters. In its simplest AND most complicated forms it is delicious and relatable.
Humans are not unlike pizza: while everyone might not enjoy it, they have to admit it’s important. Also, you don’t want to put pineapples on humans.
Q: Dear Simone, how do I stay interested in school every day when I don’t see my best friends? Sincerely, Curious
A: While socializing is an important aspect of your education, it is not pivotal to your learning experience. Reframe your priorities, because when applying yourself in school, you are applying to have a better future. Sometimes not having friends in your classes can cause your grades to go up because you’re not distracted by your environment.

If you are lonely, read a book or bring a coloring page. Make new friends in the classroom. Find things about school that you like so you can find enjoyment in your day to day. Often, if you take classes that you enjoy about topics that interest you, you’ll find like-minded people and more friends.
Q: Dear Simone, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, this school doesn’t really give very much homework. This isn’t me complaining, mind. I think we learn as much here as we would with homework and it’s impressive that we are able to go without it. I’m just worried that when I reach college and do get large amounts of the stuff I’ll become overwhelmed. Any suggestions on how I should prepare myself? -really clever anonymous name

A: Our school has many opportunities to prepare yourself to become a college student. Through AP classes and Dual Enrollment, you you can take classes that have a workload realistic to what you will experience in college.
If you add more rigorous classes to your schedule, you will have a more difficult, but manageable, workload. If you just want to enjoy not having homework right now, as long as you keep yourself motivated, you can keep up with your college classes. Study for the SAT, read some books, or play games to keep your mind sharp. As long as you feel you are receiving the information you need and keeping up with your grades, your can-do attitude will carry with you toward college.
