Last Friday, EC juniors and seniors were invited to a pep rally in Thrower Gym to honor the Girls Softball Team’s championship-winning season.
Recap. by Jacob Stone
EC’s upperclassmen were greeted with a pleasant surprise last week when they found out they’d get to spend 4th block at a pep rally.
The event included appearances from EC’s Cheerleading and Dance teams showing off how hard they have worked on their routines this season.
The softball state champs themselves ran onto the basketball court with the school flags, and several basketball players showed off their skills with a shooting contest and celebratory dunks afterward.
The gym’s celebratory atmosphere was enhanced with other fun music and games. “The pep rally was so much fun!” said Junior Levi Underwood, “I loved seeing all the performances.”
Reactions by Collin Fore
After Friday’s surprise pep rally, Smoke Signals asked the student population what they thought about the event.
The response was overwhelmingly positive with compliments to the amazing performances, fun games, and spirited atmosphere. Many students commented that they appreciated the effort the went into planning the event and enjoyed getting a chance to have fun on a Friday.
There were a few complaints, however. Some students didn’t enjoy the crowds and loud music and wished they hadn’t been required to attend. Ironically, there were many other students who weren’t able to attend–CEC students, underclassmen, etc.– but wished they could have. Surely there’s a way to switch that up!

Overall, EC students loved getting a chance to show some spirit, miss some class time, and celebrate a big victory. Let’s plan another one!
