In a Violent Nature is a horror movie released on May 31, 2024, to Shudder. Chris Nash is the director of this film who has also helped work on Mischief and ABCs of Death 2. In a Violent Nature is a slow-burn horror movie, but it is full of gory murders. This movie is a masterpiece and should be added to everyone’s movie lists.
The plot of this movie is that in a Canadian forest, a group of teenagers go camping and take a locket from a collapsed fire tower in the woods. This action resurrects the rotting corpse of Johnny, who is a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific crime 60 years ago.
Johnny embarks on a bloody and gory journey to retrieve his stolen locket, slaughtering everyone and everything that comes his way.
The cinematography of this film was very enthralling and helped tell the story. The movie is filmed from the POV of the killer. Throughout the movie, there are clips of the killer walking through the woods to show how he travels from place to place. I really enjoyed how the camera just followed the killer’s POV the whole time and then sometimes switched to his victims to show their perspective as well.
Another interesting thing about this movie is that there is no background music. Whenever the killer is walking to his next destination, you just sit there and listen to his boots crunch the leaves of the forest floor. Also, whenever the people are killed in the movie, there are no horror sounds, just the sound of the victims being murdered.
This horror movie has gotten mixed reviews from its viewers. Some viewers believe that the movie didn’t have much of a plot and was too boring. The other portion of viewers thought that the movie was perfectly matriculated and sort of like a meditation. I believe that this movie was a perfect mixture of suspense and gore.
In a Violent Nature, 2 is the sequel to this film that is currently being worked on and has even been rumored to be released in 2025 at the earliest. The poster for this film has already been released, depicting the killer’s weapon covered in blood.
Overall, I really enjoyed this film. I thought that the lack of music really helped make the movie seem more realistic. The movie was perfectly gory and full of horror elements. It was the perfect blend of elements. In conclusion, this movie is a must-have on your movie list if you love horror movies.
