Smile 2, released in the United States by Paramount Pictures on October 18, 2024, is a terrifying sequel to the movie Smile that has been getting even better reviews than the original. Smile 2 is one of the only good examples of a sequel that builds on top of the first movie and contains an interesting plot and intriguing characters.
The movie follows a pop star, Skye Riley, who is preparing for her first world tour after a terrifying and deadly car accident. She is trying to cope with all of the pressures put on her to be perfect and an idol to young girls, when she experiences a horrible tragedy.
After she witnesses this tragedy, she starts to experience weird phenomena wherever she goes. She has to cope with this along with her superstardom pressures, and try to put on a good show for the people on her tour. She becomes overwhelmed and learns that she needs to deal with her dark past to regain control of her life before it leaves her.
This movie contains many gruesome horror elements and scenes that are all put together to create a masterpiece of a film. The subtle image of a person smiling more than they usually would is surprisingly creepy to viewers. This movie is overall chilling but the final scene will leave the audience wondering what they just witnessed.
A possible threequel to the film has not been announced yet, but there is definitely potential for another film based on the ending of the movie. Many people are saying that a Smile 3 is almost inevitable at this point which leaves the audience wondering who will be the main character in the next installment.
Smile 2 has so far accumulated $135 million dollars for its global haul. Smile 2 was produced on a budget of under $30 million dollars and fell way short of its predecessor in that department. It was overall a box office success and a profitable movie.
Overall, Smile 2 is a horrifying and enthralling sequel to Smile that has splashed box offices and theaters. Smile 2 is a global hit and has a good reason for it. To watch this movie, the first film, Smile, should be watched beforehand to help explain the plot. Horror movie fans should absolutely watch this movie and enter the gripping world of Smile 2.
