Interview with Daeun Rhee

Interviewed By: Leah Sterling

On September 15, I had the opportunity to interview a current junior at East Coweta High School: Daeun Rhee. Daeun is involved in a multitude of activities at the school and is very hardworking. This interview offers insight into the thoughts of a high school student about various subjects.

Below contains the contents of the interview:

School

-How do you study for tests?

Daeun: I do practice tests and review test materials most of the time.

-How do you balance your schedule?

Daeun: I do what I need to do first, and then I waste some time doing other things.

-What are you expecting to get out of your four years of high school?

Daeun: I expect to make many friends and connections, figure out how to go about life in the future, and find out how to use a vending machine, which I learned how to do today.

-How are you enjoying your time at ECHS?

Daeun: I’m enjoying it. I’m struggling with some of my classes, especially AP Chem, but other things like clubs and extracurriculars are fine. Everything but AP Chem is going well.

-Do you eat school lunch or bring your own lunch?

Daeun: I bring my own lunch. My mom makes my lunch every morning, and I brought a Costco muffin today. It was very good.

-What is your favorite subject in school?

Daeun: I like computer science because it’s easy. I like to code and do things with computers.

-Who is your favorite teacher at ECHS?

Daeun: I like Mrs. Mohabir because she is very kind and answers all of my questions in depth.

-What’s your opinion on the block schedule?

Daeun: I like the block schedule because it has four classes a day, but an hour and 30 minutes is too long. One hour could be adequate.

-What is your favorite thing about school?

Daeun: I like school because I can make friends every day and form connections.

Extracurriculars

-Which sport is most fun to attend live?

Daeun: Football is my favorite sport to attend live.

-What clubs or sports are you involved in?

Daeun: I am in Science Olympiad, Key Club, Math Club, STEM, Mu Alpha Theta, and Beta Club. I am not in any sports.

-How did you get involved at ECHS?

Daeun: My friend, Michelle Park, took me to a club meeting, and I then joined that club. I thoroughly enjoyed it and decided to join other clubs after that.

-Do you think EC will win Homecoming this week?

Daeun: I think they’re gonna win even though they have a 0-4 losing streak.

The Future

-What are you going to do when you get out of high school?

Daeun: I am going to go to college and major in STEM. I haven’t decided yet on which major I will pursue. I’m going to get a job. I am thinking of UGA or Georgia Tech for the college that I will attend.

-What is your dream job?

Daeun: My dream job is a businesswoman, but not one that does marketing.

-If you could get into any college or university, what would it be?

Daeun: Harvard because it’s the most famous college in the world.

Personality

-What is your favorite movie?

Daeun: I like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because I read the book first in fourth grade and really enjoyed it. I hope I can get into Hogwarts one day. (she jokes)

-What is your favorite holiday?

Daeun: My favorite holiday is Christmas. I believed in Santa Claus until the 6th grade. My grandma bought a gift every Christmas, and it was second or third grade, she bought me an Elsa doll.

-What is your favorite fall scent?

Daeun: My favorite fall scent is apple. When I was in elementary school, my mom gave me an apple every morning, and she said I could be pretty if I ate an apple every day. Now I know that’s not true. (she jokes)

-Are you going to dress up for Halloween this year?

Daeun: Yes, but I haven’t decided on what I will wear yet.
