This week at ECHS, the Smoke Signals Staff took a minute to learn more about our girls volleyball team.  What we heard is that they are a team that is compassionate, caring, and confident.

EC teachers Emma Wien and Matt Hauert coach this competitive team that fights to win even when they are behind on the scoreboard.  They pride themselves on being passionate about what they do and giving their fans a good show of determination and sportsmanship.  The team’s primary goal, though, is to make it to the Sweet 16 like they did last year.

Their hard work on the court isn’t all they do, either.  The team participates in a variety of community service ventures.  Recently, they donated clothing to a grieving family after a death and made 30-40 blankets for children with cancer.  Giving back to the community, the team says, feels even better than winning.

Our volleyball team deserves some recognition for all of their hard work both on and off the court, so make plans to cheer them on at a home game next week or for their big game against Northgate on September 19!
